Bio
Command Sergeant Major Karen L. Hinckson emigrated to the United States of America from Georgetown, Guyana. She later entered the United States Army Reserves in December 1989. She attended basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Command Sergeant Major Hinckson’s initial assignment was the 343rd Combat Support Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She later continued her education as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Upon completion of her training, she transferred to the 4220 U.S. Army Hospital, Shoreham. New York. In 2002, she mobilized to Wuerzburg, Germany.
Command Sergeant Major Hinckson served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as the NCOIC of the Intensive Care Unit, Camp Bucca, Iraq with the 344th Combat Support Hospital. Upon her return from Iraq, she mobilized from 2006-2011 with First Army Headquarters, Fort Gillem, Georgia. She served as the Senior Medical Readiness NCO, Senior Operations NCO, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Command Surgeon. In 2011, she was selected to serve as the Senior Enlisted Medical Readiness Advisor, Western Regional Medical Command, Fort Bliss, Texas. In 2012, she continued her service with the 479th Field Artillery Brigade, Medi- cal Training Task Force as the Sergeant Major/Observer Controller Trainer. Command Sergeant Major Hinckson was selected in 2014 to serve as the First Sergeant for the 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional), Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. While deployed, she was selected to serve as the Command Sergeant Major (CSM) for the 4220 United States Army Hospital, Shoreham, New York. She currently serves as the CSM for the Warrior Transition Battalion, Joint Base San Antonio, TX.
Her military education includes Basic Leadership Development Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, Sergeants Major Academy Non-Residents Course, Battalion / Brigade Pre-Command Course, as well as other professional development courses throughout her Military Career.
Command Sergeant Major earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Management, and her Master of Science Degree with an emphasis in Public Health.
