Bio

Sonia Henry is the director of the Acquisition Analysis & Information Department within the Systems Engineering Division at The Aerospace Corporation. The Aerospace Corporation is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to the objective application of science and technology toward the solution of critical issues affecting the nation’s space program.

After interning for one summer at Hughes Aircraft Company, Sonia was hired as an intern by the Systems Engineering Department in the Defense Support Program in June 1990. The following year, she transferred into the Computer and Software Division, where she developed prototypes and supported systems engineering assessments of software-intensive systems. Over the years, she assumed increasingly challenging responsibilities and was promoted from intern to MTS, Sr. MTS, and Engineering Specialist before transitioning into management. In 2008, she was promoted to Engineering Manager within the Software Systems Assurance Department, where she led a team in supporting flight and ground system assessments for SMC and NRO programs. In 2015, she transferred to the Systems Engineering Division, where she served as Associate Director for the Acquisition Support & Information Department, then for the Agile Systems Engineering Planning & Analysis Department (2017), where she co-led a bi-coastal team in supporting front-end acquisition planning and lifecycle systems engineering assessments. She was recently selected as director of the Acquisition Analysis & Information Department.

Sonia’s passion is STEM. She actively supports and participates in STEM events and career days at various schools within Los Angeles County. She
has also recruited and mentored a diverse group of interns and early career staff over the last 15+ years.
