Sergeant Major Jametta A. Bland is a native of Rockford, Illinois. She joined the United States Army on September 14, 1995 and completed Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama as Military Police. SGM Bland successfully completed serving as the 525th Military Police Detention Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. SGM Bland’s stateside assignments have been at Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, and Fort Bliss, Texas. She served as a Squad Leader, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Drill Sergeant for the 787th Military Police Brigade, Delta Company, 787th MP BN, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Platoon Sergeant, 705th MP BN C Co, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Physical Security Officer, US Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Inspector General, USA CAC Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; First Sergeant, 256th MP Co, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Iraq/Afghanistan with ARCENT Assessment Team September-November 2007 and Deployed in the support of OEF June 2008 – June 2010 as NCOIC Detainee Operations Directorate, Operations Sergeant Major for ACG-Police Development and Sergeant Major for Force Integration and Training Directorate (CJ7) and Combined Training Advisory Group-Police, NATO Training Mission Afghanistan (NTM-A) and Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan (CSTC-A); June 2010 – April 2011, HHC USDB, 40th Military Police Battalion, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas as NCOIC of the Directorate of Inmate Services. April 2011 – May 2013, 508th Military Police Battalion, JBLM, WA, S3 Sergeant Major; 42D Military Police Brigade Senior I/R NCO (FWD AF) and JBLM; June 2013 – May 2014, 42D MP BDE Master Resilience Trainer; June 2014 – March 2016, Graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 65 and Staff & Faculty, USASMA, Master Leaders Course Instructor, served as the 525th Military Police Detention Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and currently serving as the United States Army South (USARSOUTH) Operational Protection Directorate Sergeant Major.
SGM Bland’s education includes Warrior Leaders Course, Master Fitness Training Course, Advance Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Senior Leaders Course, Inspector General Course, First Sergeant Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, United States Sergeants Major Academy, Senior Training and Education Managers Course (STEMC), Command Sergeants Major Legal Orientation Course, Pre-Command Course, Command Sergeants Major Course, Military Police Pre-Command Course, and the Leadership Team Awareness Seminar (LTAS). She has completed her Bachelors of Science in Criminology/Public Management from Austin Peay State University, Masters of Arts in Management from Webster University and currently pursuing her Project Management Professional Certification from Villanova University.
