Aknesha Baruti is the General Manager for Mission Avionics of Harris Corporation. Harris Avionics Systems are on most of the U.S. Department of Defense’s new development platforms making them lighter, smarter, more effective and affordable. Harris is also deeply involved in research and development for nextgeneration mission computing and secure airborne communication technologies to ensure aviators are ready to succeed against future challenges. Mrs. Baruti assumed the position of General Manager in 2018. In this role, she is responsible for providing the strategic vision, overall direction and leadership to the management team and workforce with the goal of generating maximum efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction for F-35 Avionics Production, F-35 Modernization, Mission Systems, and Advanced Systems Processing Product Lines.
Before joining Harris, Mrs. Baruti was the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, Operations & Strategy for Arkel International. Previously she has held positions of increasing responsibility including Chief Technical Officer, Program, & Operations Executive, Senior Program Manager, Internal Research & Development Principal Investigator, Subcontract Program Manager, Capture Manager, and Systems Engineer.
She is committed to professional development and civic outreach as a member of the Girls, Inc., Air Force Association, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, INCOSE, and the Project Management Institute. She serves as a member of the Southern University College of Engineering & Science Advisory Board, Morgan State University Industrial and Systems Engineering Advisory Council and US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency Advisory Panel. Mrs. Baruti earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Morgan State University, a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering with a Project Management concentration from Johns Hopkins University and graduated from Defense Acquisition University Program Management Fundamentals.
