Bio
Emanuel Waddell received an Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and physics from Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA) and a doctorate degree in Analytical Chemistry from Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, LA). At LSU, Emanuel conducted research under the guidance of Steve Soper utilizing time-correlated single photon counting for DNA sequencing applications. Dr. Waddell was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Institute of Standards in Gaithersburg, MD where he utilized excimer lasers for the micromachining and surface modification of polymer substrates. Emanuel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and has been Associate Dean for the College of Science since August 2015. Emanuel is the current President of National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).
Cited over six hundred times and a co-inventor on two patents, Emanuel has been a member of . the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) since 1996 and is currently, the National President. In addition to being active in NOBCChE, Emanuel is active in the Boy Scouts of America and serves as the UAH campus director of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation. Emanuel has been married to his spouse Karol for over 25 years and is the father of three adult sons, Emanuel III, Khalil and Kendyl.
