Learning Objective: Increase awareness and knowledge of operations, information technology, and human capital management challenges and opportunities facing our military leadership and those in the civilian sector who provide products and services to the military. Increase awareness of the impact of culture, leadership, diversity and inclusion on homeland security. The session is intended to reflect the spirit of engagement and collaboration between military and industry in pursuit of common goals in support of Homeland Security.

 


At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:


a.    Articulate at a high level the human capital management challenges and opportunities in the current market faced by the U.S. Military and the civilian sector supporting the military. 


b.    Consider strategies to discern recruitment trends and needs for today and the future, planned retention strategies, and the impact of culture, leadership, diversity and inclusion upon recruitment and retention.


c.     Acquire understanding of the cultural climate and strategic plans to cultivate a work environment designed to sustain a culture of superior performance. 


d.    Gain awareness of evaluation techniques that measure progress and outcomes for program and policy effectiveness.


e.    Acquire understanding of the direct impact of human capital management on homeland security as related to the four Cs of leadership: Competence, Commitment, Character and Compassion.
